Weekend Rush

A lot can happen in a weekend. Here was mine.
Bret and I headed to Eastern WA on Friday morning for a Farm Safety Class that Bret was to attend the next day. After a long six hour journey we made it to Grandma & Grandpa's house (my mom & dads), with just a short stop to visit with Mike's parents. Saturday morning, Bret left early to go to his class then my sister, Kara, and I drove mom to Colfax for a MRI she had to have. Mom was nervous because she is a little claustrophobic, and had to have some meds to help her stay calm for the 1.5hour proceedure. As mom was doing her MRI, Kara and I had a nice long visit in the waiting room. The waiting room was in a part of the hospital that isn't being used much yet so we had the room to ourselves.
After we got back to Grandma's house, I started putting together a shelf-in-a-box. Each of the steps were well written and diagramed so I didn't have to much trouble, but it did take me about 3 hours to get it done. It turned out nicely and does the job it was set out to do. Because I was building a new shelf the old one needed a good clearing out before it could be used for mom's medical supplies. I ended up throwing out a pile of old phone books and used Christmas cards and Mom and Bob ended up going through a stack of old papers. Which all-in-all was a good thing. For a treat that night Bob grilled us some thick, juicy steaks on the BBQ, we had some nice, fresh, steamed asparagas and a salad to go with the tastey treat.
Sunday morning Bret and I set out for our long journey home. Bret drove to Yakima and I drove the rest of the way. We had some good conversation and although we were tired, it was a good trip.
While we were gone, Beth and Kevin moved back in with us. Our house is plum full of furniture. And we still don't have the baby grand piano in yet! It's going to be cozy for a little while till they can get settled in the Walla Walla area when Kevin starts his new job. Beth and Kevin both like to cook and Beth is a cleaning whir-wind, so it's not a hardship to have them here. Kevin is also handy around our little farm, mowing the lawn, helping with the garden and just doing odd jobs.
Sarah had Beth and I work on a project she has for her wedding, so we embossed around 50 "Save the date" refrigerator maganets.
That evening (still Sunday) I went to baccaloriate to honor our graduates from our church, some of my good friends have children graduating from public school. I'm glad I went, the speaker, Rev. Bob Mortimer, was very good and if he didn't encourage the kids, he did me. His three points were; 1) Have a sense of humor, which he told stories about himself that without a sense of humor would make you cry. 2) There is always someone worst off that you. This coming from a man who only has 1 arm and no legs after being electricuted. 3) The last point was part of the Serenity Pray. "God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference."
After that there was a reception and I had a chance to visit with some old friends.
I will leave you with the Bible verse Rev. Bob gave to the senior class, Romans 8:28.
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose.
